Seedhe Maut Lunch Break Tracklist poster.
Lunch Break, the perfect name for a project like this. It's packed with an assortment flavors and textures and sounds of all kinds. A large helping of different producers and artists get a chance to show what they can do here. That's not to say SM and Sez themselves don't bring good variety too. Their production is fresh and clean. And even if not every one vibes with your palette, there's always something else to sink your teeth into.
Pushpak Vimaan has this odd, almost orchestral horn sample that takes a bit to get used to, but it FUCKS. SM know exactly how to flow over it to make that big pill go down. Kya Challa's horn sample is a smoother and a bit funky. The falling flute lines in Falle Khan just sound...perfect. On Naam Kaam Sheher idek what that's supposed to be but it goes hard. Lunch break seems to be a shamisen with a bit of filtering which is both subtle enough to not overwhelm the track but still grabs your ears. Crisp yet sweet.
Asal G packs so much of the rhythm in it's bassline that it's almost reminiscent of drift phonk or some kind of house. Swah is Swah. Luka Chippi's beat has an unusual and creative combination of sounds, and that beat is stretched to its limits with some of the craziest flows on the whole tape. Khauf has a similar sound with whistles that reminds me of a birdcall plus some flutes and percussion sounds I can't pin down. Khoon mixes meaty bass with what I'm guessing to be a sitar and a little flute to top it off. Kehna Chatte Hain (Prelude) is an unusual but welcome shift in genre that closes out the tape.
Different beats, different influences, different samples, different vocal styles...I don't think there's a person who won't find something to love on this one.
